Human skin is divided into 3 layers

epidermis: This is the most superficial layer of the skin. Different than half a millimeter thick in the eyelid to 1.5 mm in the palm of the hand and foot.
It consists of 5 layers: from the bottom to the top:
stratum basale cells are new and old cells push to the surface of the skin
stratum spinosum
stratum granulosum
stratum licidum
stratum corneum: dead skin cells and flat and situated within two weeks.
