Children of obese mothers are suffering from slow growth
It is known that lady that overweight or obese face multiple health problems during pregnancy. However, a recent study published recently in the journal of Pediatrics, adding a new problem to increase the weight of the pregnant mother, the effect on the growth of their children, at least during the initial stages of their lives.
In this study, a research team from the University of Iowa by comparing the weight of babies and their length at birth mothers sex and non-sex. They found that since the birth of these children until they reach the age of three months be children born to mothers who suffer from obesity or excess weight lighter and taller, gaining mass less fat compared to of are born to mothers with normal weight.
The fat mass when young is vital to the growth and evolution of the brain which explains why native people most obesity among mammals.
The researcher said Katie Larson of the University of Iowa, "we have found that these children do not grow naturally. If this were true, would mean that the obesity epidemic affecting younger while still in the womb, which increases the importance of obesity risk before hitting the female of reproductive age leaving the negative impact of obesity the impact on future generations. "
And a study published in the journal of American Medical Association 2010 that six out of 10 women of childbearing age are overweight or obese. Previous studies have shown that children born to mothers with obesity or excess weight usually return to normal growth rates, such as those who are born to mothers with normal weight, but they unfortunately are more susceptible to weight gain in adolescence, which can cause health problems for them during the different stages of their lives.
In an attempt to explain the reasons for the slow growth of young in the first stages of life, researchers suggested one of two reasons. The first is due to inflammation as the fat cells that could help dampen the immune system increases sharply when people with excess weight. Researchers believe that the reaction of the immune system of pregnant woman suffering excess weight or obesity can also cause sparking growth of the immune system of the fetus, thus wasting energy that was to be used for embryonic development.
The second reason for the slow growth of the fetus in the womb occurs in two ways either by free fatty acids are transferred from mother to child through the growth hormone which is known as IGF-1 or during growth hormone the pituitary gland with furry baby brain. The researchers assumed that the child receives a lot of free fatty acids which encourages growth hormones of obese mothers so pituitary gland production, which means that the birth of a child does not have grown enough to offset it.
