Radioactive iodine can be used to destroy cancerous tissue
We know that the thyroid gland needs iodine to normal hormone production that organizations processes within our bodies.
If the amount of iodine in the food we eat is insufficient, the body will provide the thyroid by radioactive iodine 131 which spreads in the environment due to pollution in the atmosphere. It has been found to iodine-131 in milk from cows and goats subjected to radioactive rain on fields. And the presence of radioactive iodine-131 thyroid leads to cell damage and reduces the functional capacity and potentially cancerous tumor appears.
We've heard that many people were exposed to radioactive iodine dust in 1986, as a result of the nuclear disaster of Chernobyl in Ukraine. To protect these people from the dangerous radioactive elements the Soviet health authorities by giving people potentially exposed to large amounts of radiation, non-radioactive iodine to prevent absorption of some radioactive iodine salts. If the body is impregnated with iodine, is likely output of radioactive elements and then suck her body.
We often hear that the destructive force of the radioactive iodine that could be used in medical treatment for the treatment of thyroid cancer and iodine-131 can be used to destroy cancerous tissue of the thyroid remaining after surgery to eradicate the cancerous tissue. If it is not surgical eradication, iodine-131 can be used with external radiation therapy.
