"Foursquare" location slip on a new design for custom pages for places on the website, change comes within a site strategy to take advantage of the growing number of visitors to the site, which arrived fifty million monthly visitors and more than 17 million users "foursquare" applications.
The site seeks to be a source of information and exploring places and destinations, not just an application for smart phones allows users to create them in different places recording and share them with their friends and their observers in social networks.
Says Mike slngton, Chief Engineer of the foursquare Web: "coming from Google to foursquare users for various reasons, we needed to give them the information they want at a glance". He adds that new pages are better visually, would prefer employers view and link to their sites.
The new design of the pages "foursquare" simplicity, and highlight important information such as phone numbers, address, in addition to the images, as necessary as information page provides photos and a map of the location and contact details, opening times and of interest to researchers on a specific destination to make their decision about going somewhere.
Search site will provide comments and user ratings and access to detailed information about a specific restaurant meal for example instead of surfing all the comments.
Although "foursquare" provides information on destinations is competition from other online sites such as Yellow Pages yellow pages, but what sets it apart from similar services the social aspect and the ability to search the recommendations and comments by users, and the places preferred by their friends, the site also provides nominations to visit places close to or similar.
"Foursquare" hopes in the competition site like Yelp to assess business activities and restaurants, which allows more detailed assessments. "Foursquare" focuses on linking the nearby places together and nominations for users and offers through its reliance on registration of visits by users to specific places and times of visit information about the popularity of a particular destination at one time; as most popular restaurant in the evening or the afternoon waned.
"Foursquare" wishes that the new design impressed the online users who may not be of application users, and help attract new users contribute to increase the information available to the site.
Mike slngton, believes that the fact that Google's primary source of website visits helped to change their vision of pages and role. He said: "if we have good pages of destinations, would be in the interest of Google and any other search engine giving us advanced arrangement." Despite the availability of many sites which are classified by the number of destinations from stars and other assessment methods, he preferred going to try him in a city accustomed to them irrespective of the assessment of others.
