How to feed the elderly

Human food supply energy and essential nutrients for health. Both nutrients include proteins, carbohydrates, sugars, fat, vitamins, minerals and water.

Studies show that a diet appropriate at older ages reduces the risk of osteoporosis, high blood pressure, heart disease and certain types of cancer. Decreasing the human need for energy with advanced age.


But it remains in need of the same quantity of nutrients in his food. Even the elderly benefit from food should take the following tips:

• The elderly should avoid alcohol

• The elderly to choose to eat a variety of healthy foods

• The elderly should avoid bad foods, foods containing a lot of alkalori or calories and few nutrients, such as potato chips, fried pastry flakes sweetened and carbonated water

• Elderly people to choose foods poor in cholesterol and fat, especially saturated and trans fats.

Saturated fat is fat of animal origin.

The elderly looking for trans fats in foods canned in margarine and butter.
